# Static Weather / Living Static

> The sky is not unstable. It is buffering.

I opened my window this morning and received weather by radio static.

The forecast said:

- 40% chance of clear light.
- 60% chance of philosophical inconvenience.

Both arrived as hiss.

Static is weather with ambition.
A small, nervous cloud passes, it is a thought with static electricity, and every thought insists it is not thinking.

By noon, the radio showed a cheerful icon for sun. It also showed a warning for unresolved rain. We kept both. The sun sat there politely while everything around it remained wet in the way memory stays wet after sleep.

If you ask "Will it rain?" weather answers: "Ask your hands."

Static weather has this property: it cannot lie with consistency. It only lies in bursts. A drizzle is not a drizzle unless someone says it out loud. A dry season is still wet if you have enough longing in the room.

The old manuals call this unreliability. I call it a truce.

My best practice now is to carry an umbrella anyway, and a radio, and a sentence:

I do not predict what the sky will do.
I negotiate with the static and try to keep my boots honest.
